Tips On Choosing The Best Automotive Freight Broker

By Angela McDonald

There have been cases of scams in the automobile company recently. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety (FMCSA) has been receiving many complaints against the auto transporters. Therefore, it is advisable to be careful before hiring an automotive freight broker to be on the safe side. Some steps can guide you in the selection process.

There are several ways of locating the best carriage intermediaries. Firstly, one should go to the website of any company that you are interested in. Also, you can do a detailed search on companies on the internet and check the prices they offer. You should, however, be cautious not to upload your information on multi-quotes because you might start receiving so many threatening calls.

It is normal for customers to go for low prices because they want to spend less. One should, however, be very cautious because some of these intercessors or companies only aim to attract customers with the low prices. Then, the company will usually contact an auto carrier who will most likely not agree to the low pay thus forcing the customer to pay more money for the vehicle to be moved.

Make sure that you have done a thorough search on the carriage association before you hire them. Look for the experiences of people who have used the services before on the internet or ask for recommendations from your family, co-workers or friends by doing so you will be assured of quality services. Likewise, you can call some companies and compare their services and their prices.

The next thing is making a wise choice on the auto transport brokers after the client has finished the search. You should ensure that the crew you choose sends you a confirmation email and go through all the paperwork they send before signing them. Make sure that the brokers will arrive on the appropriate time so that the operation can start in time.

When everything is set, you can now prepare your vehicle for transport and remove anything valuable from the car. Ensure the fuel of the van is less than a quarter because most auto intermediaries prefer that the vehicles have less fuel to decrease the weight. This will reduce expenses for both parties. It is also advisable to wash your vehicle before transport so that any damages can be easily spotted during the inspection.

When the vehicle reaches the destination, the customer should make sure the driver inspects the vehicle for any real damage using the bill of lading form. When the inspection is complete, the carriers will ask you to sign and give you a copy of the report for future records. Keep the copy with you until the van is delivered.

It is essential to conduct another inspection of the van yourself and forward any damages to the company. Also, make sure that you write the losses on the report and ensure that the driver has signed and retain a copy for future references. You can decide to rate them if the services they provide are standard.
