On July 13, 2004, Montenegro received an unmistakable banner. Taking into account an old illustrious pennant, the new banner of Montenegro was red flanked with yellow. At its middle was a yellow twofold headed hawk showing a shield with a lionâ"the dynastic arms of the NjegoÅ¡ tradition that once managed Montenegro.
Supporters of the union with Serbia, Montenegro, often informally used to a flag that represents a tricolor with equal width horizontal stripes of red, blue and white.
