By Froilan Gauss

One of the most potent landmarks of the SEO world was the Panda update of 2011. Google's purpose with the Panda release was to guarantee that its search engine results only show web pages which give content quality as opposed to web pages that try to make use of holes in the procedure it uses to filter appropriate web pages for search results.

The effects of this update, which improved the quality of portals on the internet, was widespread as it affected over 12 % of search engine results. The Google Panda release ended up affecting all portals that were using technical holes in Google's algorithm. In fact, Google Panda affected so many different web pages that most website administrators and SEO specialists are now fearful of every new change from Google.

However, it seems that world stopping internet marketing algorithm releases from Google are not as common as most SEO experts offering numerous SEO services believe it to be.

Still, a great majority of modifications released by Google tend to be reviews of older releases. This is visible in the New Year as well. The first Google algorithmic update in the year of 2013 was an modification of the landmark Google Panda update. In fact, since Google launched its two major updates in the form of Panda and Penguin, it has been persistently trying to make better the algorithm releases in as they endeavor to make their effect more controlled.

Something worth noticing is that since Google released its Panda release, there have been numerous improving algorithm releases released by it. In effect, the way search engine results are selected has improved. The impact of initial releases and their following releases can be best explained by taking the example of Squidoo. While the initial change demolished its search rankings, further improvements allowed it to recover ground. This shows that although some SEO specialists may be afraid of releases from Google, some of them genuinely turn out to be good for their websites and the internet in general. However, what is less likely is that search engine optimization bombs like Panda and Penguin releases would be released frequently.
