Useful And Essential Facts About Gymnastics In Delaware

Gymnastics as an activity entails utilization of control, strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, agility and power in its performance. It is one of the sports that have existed for a long time now. The sport has its roots in prehistoric Greece. Over time, the sport has developed to what it is presently. Contemporarily, it is undertaken in numerous nations and at international level. This is what Gymnastics in Delaware are all about.

Running, stretching and swimming were among the activities involved in gymnastics in ancient Greece. According to history, modern gymnastics started around the late 1700s. Friedrich Jahn, a German citizen is considered as the father of contemporary gymnastics. Several apparatus that are being used in modern sport were invented by Jahn. Among the apparatus accredited to Jahn are the parallel bar and balance beam.

In 1811, Jahn established a gymnastic learning center with an aim of spreading the sport in all countries in the world. Guts Muth of Sweden at the same time, introduced rhythmic gymnastics in the Swedish country. The introduction of this sport in the United States happened around the time of civil war. The introduction was spearheaded by Dr. Dudley Allen. Ever since, the sport has spread in all regions of the world.

It was in the 1896 that the first modern Olympic games were held, and it involved a number of male events like rope climbing. Use of apparatus was introduced in Olympics in 1924 in Paris. In 1928, in Amsterdam, female routines were introduced in Olympic Games. It was not until in 1960 that finalization of routines performed in modern Olympic Games was done in Rome.

In Olympic Games, men have 6 events to compete in. The events are high bar, till rings, parallel bars, pommel horse, floor exercise and vault. All members of the team are required to perform separately in all male routines during the team competitions. When all the exercises are performed perfectly, a team normally is awarded a medal.

In the international and Summer Olympics Games competition of artist gymnastics, women normally engage in four individual categories. The female competitors compete in balance, floor exercise, balance beam and uneven bars. Each of this event represents an Olympic event. Every member in the team is required to perform in all events. In case an artists excels in all events, the team has higher chances of winning a medal.

The inception of rhythmic gymnastics to Olympic Roster was in 1984, with its first performance held in Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles. As of the present, this category is only performed by women in Olympics. The event is made up of five major events, that is, ball, hoop, rope, ribbon and clubs. Marks are awarded on the basis of the execution, artistry and difficulty entailed in the performance.

It was in 2000 that individual trampolining got added to Olympic roster. A trampoline is used for trampolining. In trampolining, artist must perform a series of 10 jumps and aerial skills non-stop. The points are awarded by the judges bases on the duration of the performance and level of difficulty. Currently the US has not managed to win any medal in the event during the Summer Olympic Games.
