From the past until the present generation there are different cultures in coexisting with one another. The only difference is that now days they are widely accepted and they have equal rights to education and opportunity. When one would look at this present day society, one could say that humanity now is building a bridge to better understanding of the different and unique. When people made of the same flesh killed for the most pointless reasons, to gain supremacy and control, which is nothing in comparison to life and that was an idea that some people back then could not fully grasp. But gladly there more individuals that have opened their minds to that fact the life is something irreplaceable.
But no matter how many time one would try to disregard, cultural biases, slavery, and discriminations did mark history. Lives were disregarded and people were treated unevenly, if one from this generation would go back to the past when the society showed utmost cruelty it would surely cause devastation and remorse.
In this event one might also be able to realize how devoted some culture is to their religion and tradition. Some even values the essence of spirit and thanks giving to their gods. With all these devotion one might stop and think what are you devoted in. Are you devoted to you family, you religion, or your dreams perhaps.
Besides one does not need to change their belief, just to experience other peoples cultures, appreciation leads to respect. And respect if not everything, it means the most to those who are seeking acceptance and equality.
Why people act the way they did, to be able to treat a fellow human being as a slave, as a thing that can be replaced anytime. If you re read the course of history, you would be confused as to why people back then could be so cruel, exchanging a living breathing human being for money.
It does not mean that the moment you learn about other culture, you need to forget about your own. There is this thought that in experience we learn, but it does not mean that you have to forget what you have known your whole life. Plus there is nothing to lose by accepting that there will always be someone different from you, and they will always have belief that varies from your own point of view.
