Facts About Modular Church Buildings

By Ruth Hughes

Modular buildings are the type of structures or buildings made in a factory and moved to a designated location of use for installation. Any activity to do with the manufacturing process is done in a controlled setting within a factory. This type of construction comes with numerous benefits.

During the introduction of modular buildings, there were many disadvantages that led to people developing a negative attitude towards them. Lack of manufactures, high cost, poor quality, lack of varied designs, and weakness in the structure are some of the disadvantages that were associated with them. However, the structures have grown to be more adopted and popular because of advancement in technology. Nowadays, the quality of modular church buildings is similar to the quality of conventional housing.

Several advantages are associated with modular housing as discussed below. The first advantage is that these structures have a shorter construction time. A small modular house can take less than two months to be built from the foundation all the way to the roof. The construction time is made shorter due to factors such as greater teamwork, greater repeatability, and automation.

One day or so may be needed to move the structure to the site of installation based on how far it is. A matter of days may also be needed to accomplish the installation. Therefore, apart from all activities being performed quickly, there is also a greater level of precision in the construction. Trucks with ability to carry wide and heavy loads are used to move these structures from the factory to the site. To be safe from accidents, every module is ferried alone.

Older modular structures had one major problem, which was lack of design. The nature of the fabricated homes made it difficult to integrate certain designs. However, nowadays prefabricated houses can be built using almost any design. Technological advancements have played a big role in these improvements. Also, there is the possibility of producing as many modules as required to integrate into a building.

This allows a property owner to increase the size of their building to any size they want. Modern modules are also built to be more durable and capable of withstanding destruction caused by storms and similar natural phenomena. The durability of prefabricated structures is higher than that of conventional buildings. This is a major factor that has contributed to people preferring these structures.

When comparison is made with traditional houses, the acoustics incorporated into these modules are far better. Sound penetrates easily through walls and ceilings into the interior of conventional buildings. This has made floating floors to be installed to attain noise suppression. Each module is a stand-alone unit in modular construction. This prevents the transfer of noise.

Protection is installed so as to prevent noise transfer in cases where two modules touch each other. Also, other units cannot be affected because damage in a single unit can be taken care of independently. This lowers the cost of insurance and maintenance. Obtaining funds for acquisition of modular homes has been made easier by the improvement in their quality.
