If you want to be trusted as a legitimate leader, never act like a know-it-all. You probably have some solid ideas you think highly of, but remember that others around you also have ideas to contribute. Others are able to contribute ideas to improving your own, ways to implement your ideas or even offer constructive criticism on the weaknesses.

Do what you can to make sure your workers are comfortable with approaching you. There are a great number of people who assume that ruling with an iron fist and intimidation are the right way to show leadership. This generally isn't going to work out, and people won't give you respect because they won't think you deserve it. Let your employees know that you support them, since you have the responsibility to see that they perform well.

As a leader, you should be working towards building a team that is strong and cohesive. You should always try to help your employees solve problems, and give them honest answers. With your support, your team can complete their daily assignments without too much supervision.

Be sincere and confident when talking to clients, customers and employees. Remember, there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. People will not trust you if you display arrogance. When you're sincere, people will understand and trust you a lot more. When you are insincere, it is obvious and your team will not take you seriously.

Own up to the mistakes you make. All good leaders will eventually make bad decisions. Great leaders take ownership of errors and openly communicate them to their team. It will show them that you are human, just as they are. These are not poor qualities in a leader.

A good number of leadership tools have now been laid at your feet. Use them to improve your leadership skills, and let your team in on this newly acquired knowledge so they can benefit too. Doing so will help your company thrive for yourself and your employees.
