Getting A Job As A Dallas Santa For Hire

By Arthur Davis

As the holidays approach each year, you might look for ways to earn extra money. Rather than take a job working at a fast food restaurant or in a retail store, you might want to take a gig that is more relaxed and fun. You also may want something that lets you use your imagination and creativity. Many organizations each year look for people to put on a big red and white suit and assure children that their Christmas wishes will come true. You could earn extra money by working as a Dallas Santa for hire.

The idea of taking this job may seem like a lot of fun at first. After all, it lets you be creative and use your imagination while engaging children who are excited about Christmas. However, not every child who comes up to sit on your lap will be a bundle of joy and energy. In fact, you may encounter some that put your nerves to the test and challenge you to stay in character during the experience.

For instance, it is nothing new for children especially babies and toddlers to cry at seeing someone they do not know. When a child is placed on your lap, you may prepare yourself for he or she to scream, cry, and throw a tantrum. During the whole thing, you must stay in character without showing your real emotions.

You also are expected to remain level headed when children tell you heartbreaking stories about their own personal lives. Perhaps they will tell you about how they want you to bring back a dead pet or a lost parent. It can be important for you to know how to respond to these requests reasonably and without showing emotions yourself.

Even if you are the best of actors, you also are required to pass a background check. Most organizations that retain temporary Santas put these people through background checks to look for offenses that could put children in harm's way. Your application for employment may require you to agree to undergo a background check.

Your record may be scourged for crimes that are violent in nature like assault or robbery. You also will be checked for any crime that relates to harming or violating a child. If you worry that misdemeanors like speeding could bar you from being hired, you may take comfort in knowing that many organizations overlook these offenses.

The last thing to keep in mind involves your personal hygiene. Kids expect the jolly old elf to look and smell good. You will have to wear deodorant and brush your teeth each day before coming to work. You also will need to keep your face clean so you can pull of the appearance that children expect.

As long as you can fulfill these requirements, you may find work as a Santa Claus. Many groups throughout the area look for individuals to play the part as Christmas approaches. The gig typically pays reasonably well and provides several weeks worth of solid employment. You also could play a big role in making the lives of children even brighter and happier during this time of year.
